The Village of Lancaster is thrilled to announce the projects selected to receive grant assistance from the NY Forward Small Project Fund!

Four projects were selected for funding:

  • 5497 Broadway Avenue: $100,000 for a complete façade restoration and additional exterior repairs of the iconic Lancaster Masonic Lodge.
  • 25 Central Avenue: $55,675 for window replacement and exterior restoration and repairs of the historic building at the corner of Clark Street.
  • 5470 Broadway Avenue: $54,750 for roof repairs on both the main building and the classic, detached carriage house, painting of the carriage house, and exterior signage replacement.
  • 5500 Broadway Avenue: $50,000 for extensive exterior restoration and repairs of the landmark Frosty’s Ice Cream building and roof replacement of the adjacent building.

The Small Project Fund was a portion set aside from the New York State Homes and Community Renewal funded NY Forward Program award to the Village of Lancaster and was established to support smaller scale transformative projects in and around the Village’s central business district. The Small Project Fund received applications for 20 projects totaling $1.5 million!

A selection committee of residents and stakeholders reviewed the applications. They scored each project on characteristics like historic value, physical and economic impact, and contribution to the uniqueness of the Village of Lancaster. Though each project was significant, the above four projects rose to the top.

The Village appreciates the time and careful thought selection committee members Ashley Debbins, Matthew Fischione, Debbie Glowny, Cynthia Maciejewski, and Michael Meyer invested into this selection process, as well as the work each merchant and property owner put into their applications.
