As you’re out enjoying summer, we want to make residents aware of giant hogweed.
Recently, giant hogweed was reported in the Town of Alden and has also been previously identified in Como Park. While there are currently no confirmed sightings in the Village of Lancaster, we encourage everyone to stay aware.
If you think you’ve found giant hogweed:
– Stay a safe distance away and take photos of the entire plant, stem, leaves, and flowers/seed head. Do not touch or attempt to remove the plant yourself.
– Note the location, including nearby roads, landmarks, or GPS coordinates if possible. Also estimate the number of plants.
