The Village of Lancaster kicked off its 175th Anniversary with the Demi-Semi Formal at the Lancaster Opera House. The host, Opera House Artistic Director David Bondrow, decorated, furnished, and lit the room in the style of an intimate jazz club. Eye-catching prints of Lancaster buildings provided by Town of Lancaster Historian Mary Jo Monnin drew guests to the edges of the room to nostalgically ponder how much the Village has changed over the years. Mayor Lynne Ruda ceremonially cut the Anniversary cake after she welcomed guests to an exciting year of celebrations. Finally, Village resident and American Idol alumni John Stevens provided the evening’s entertainment as he crooned through a selection of classic jazz standards accompanied by his skillful trio.
