Don’t Toss Your Pumpkin!

Oct 30, 2024 | Climate Smart News, Village News

Did you know that millions of pumpkins end up in landfills every year after Halloween?
When pumpkins decompose in landfills, they produce methane—a potent greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change. By keeping pumpkins out of landfills, we can reduce harmful emissions and help protect our environment.
Instead, try composting, feeding wildlife, or upcycling your pumpkins. Together, we can make a big impact by making small, sustainable choices!
Drop off your pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, and gourds, including those that may already be decaying or rotting at any of the following drop off locations between Friday, November 1, through Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 10am-4pm. Collection containers will be available in the parking lots of each location.
Pumpkins should not be bleached or painted, and have candles or lanterns removed. No corn stalks or hay bales will be accepted.
