Parks & Recreation

Parks

The Village of Lancaster is home to unique parks. It is also close to several other spectacular parks within the Town of Lancaster. All of these parks are for the residents of the Town and Village of Lancaster.

Como Lake Park

The splendor of Como Lake Park cannot be missed. An historic lighthouse sits beside a placid man made lake. One of seven spectacular parks operated by the Erie County Parks Department, Como Park is acre after acre of tranquility. With tennis courts, softball diamonds, basketball courts, a soccer field, ice skating in winter, two enclosed shelters and many open air picnic areas, Como Park is the perfect place for your get together.

Como Park also contains a vehicle charging station at the Lancaster Place shelter, located near the park entrance on Como Park Boulevard.

For information or shelter reservations call (716) 858-8355 or go to the Erie County website to make an online reservation.

Fireman’s Park

A two minute stroll from the center of the Village, Fireman’s Park overlooks Cayuga Creek as it meanders through the Village. There is a small picnic shelter available, without reservations, and several seating areas. A recent Eagle Scout project by Sam Auria has added more seating and a checkerboard game to the sidewalk. A monument to all of the men and women that volunteer their lifesaving skills is the centerpiece of this unique park.

Hadsall Park

Hadsall Park Splash Pad, located on Richmond Ave, is a popular summer destination for families. Featuring interactive water elements like sprayers and fountains, it offers a fun and refreshing play area for children. The splash pad is open during the summer months from 9am until sunset.

Keysa Park

Home to the Lancaster Town Pool, Keysa Park, also has a baseball diamond and a large covered picnic shelter. The Town Pool offers a variety of swimming programs for all ages during the summer months. There are also basketball courts, tennis courts and indoor lavatory facilities. A skate park has been added in memory of Bryce Buchholz and basketball courts in memory of James Metz, two lancaster teenagers who’s lives were sadly cut short.

For information on shelter usage contact the Lancaster Parks and Recreation Department at (716) 684-3320

Veteran’s Park/Monument

Located adjacent to Como Park on Lake and Pardee Avenues, Veteran’s Park/Monument is a beautifully set area that serves as a powerful memorial to all of the men and women of Lancaster who gave their lives while serving their country. Set with flagpoles and cannons, this jewel in Lancaster is also host to a Memorial Day Observation Ceremony sponsored by the Lt. Col.Matt Urban VFW Post 7275.

Picnic tables are placed in the park so that people can sit and reflect and enjoy the peaceful park, its well kept gardens and beautiful trees including a lovely Ginkgo tree.
