Tree Dedication Program and Application
In celebration of 175 years of the Village of Lancaster, residents have the opportunity to dedicate a tree in the central business district!
Residents can commission a bronze plaque through the Village to dedicate a Village-owned street tree to honor or remember a loved one. Dedication plaques will be installed by the Village of Lancaster Department of Public Works at the foot of a tree on Pleasant Avenue between Aurora and Central, on West Main Street, or on Central Avenue in between Pleasant and Broadway as space allows.
These plaques honor members of our community by dedicating a tree that helps beautify our Village, providing a meaningful amenity that residents and guests will enjoy and appreciate as time goes by.
This program was developed by the 175th Anniversary Committee, with the collaboration of the Forest Advisory Board and the Department of Public Works.
To purchase a plaque, please print and return the linked Village of Lancaster Tree Dedication Application along with payment to the Village of Lancaster Clerk-Treasurer’s Office. Paper copies of the Application form can be requested at the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office for your convenience. Applications will be reviewed by the Forest Advisory Board and, if approved, will be submitted for production.

Can I select which tree I wish to dedicate?
The Village certified arborist will work with the Forest Advisory Board and the Department of Public Works to select a suitable tree among those growing within the eligible dedication areas.
Can I have the plaque placed on my property or elsewhere in the Village?
The Village of Lancaster Tree Dedication Program beautifies and enhances the uniqueness of the downtown core. The placement of the plaque is limited to the dedication area.
When will my plaque be installed?
Manufacturing time for the tree dedication plaques is approximately two months. After receiving the completed plaque, the DPW will install it as weather and availability allows.
